Contrast with the focal point

Contrast is where light and dark areas meet. The eye is very sensitive to strong contrast and it can be a useful tool to draw attention to important areas of a drawing or painting. Where contrast is strong, the subject will stand out, where it is weak the subject will blend into the background. This is especially important when a picture is viewed from a distance and the detail provides fewer clues for the eye.

Customizing value

Customizing  were certain tone are in the range of value.  

Value 03

Halftone 

Shifting the halftone to the dark or light range of values

will make the object you're painting more light or darker. 

Having no halftone just leaves you with black and white 

which creates stronger contrast.

                                             Not to dark and not to bright

It's good to a void using pure white and pure black,

 I found that it has a nice realistic look to it. 

  But I think it shouldn't be 

      a rule set in stone especially for digital painting.

                                 I ended up not doing the other attempt for this image because  I had a big time gap away between my goals and work and other stuff and I felt like in that time I improved a                                     lot and I didn't like the other attempt that much ...meh.

A middle value in dark can appear light relative to the stronger dark around it.

 

 Tried to see if white and a mid-tone would have the same effect

                             One hour face study and this was my 100th one didn't want to full my blog                                                                               with 100 face studies :/

                       This is a 2 hour Photostudy, trying to go a bit more slower and to be                                                    more accurate, I probably  will do 10 of these then move on to

                               something else.

Well  last month and half of this month, I got swamped with freelance work I had no time to do
any of my own stuff  I should have a lot more time now to finish this goal I have made for my self :)

I decided  to do the thumbnails again (number 6 dark background), the other thumbnails didn't really work with the black background
and realized that I needed to do more cast shadows all so to change the canvas shape tooooo.

A sketch while waiting for work Emails

                        Touby, he is one of these characters who is a pain in the backside to find,

                        running around in circles in the grass for hours just to steal an item or 

                                     key from him. Once you run into him you have to get around                                                   his magic chalk line that he lays down, that shields him from any 

                                         physical or magic long distance attack and after the five moves he keeps trying to run away from the battle.

                        I haven't done a pic with a white background in years...

                     had fun with this one it was a big challenge with the perspective.
