I got some time today to work on this :D

Cleaned up the thumbnail 

                                           
                                               Blocked in values with the pen tool

Thumbnails for the last image for my goal :D

Customizing value

Customizing  were certain tone are in the range of value.  

Value 03

Halftone 

Shifting the halftone to the dark or light range of values

will make the object you're painting more light or darker. 

Having no halftone just leaves you with black and white 

which creates stronger contrast.

Value 02

                                             Not to dark and not to bright

It's good to a void using pure white and pure black,

 I found that it has a nice realistic look to it. 

  But I think it shouldn't be 

      a rule set in stone especially for digital painting.
