The reason for the lack of updates on this blog
I just started a full time concept artist job at Grinding Gear Games
working on the game Path of Exile :)
I'll try to keep posting on here whenever I can,
will make it into a goal not to let my blog go stagnant.

Line 07
Showing materials/texture with line
Showing texture in your line work helps distinguish
other parts of your image and gives it a realistic
look. It also gives volume to form.
I find that doing a line study of texture helps
refresh my memory of texture to draw in images.
Here's a diagram of my mind's process for studying and applying.
The first two images are drawings I did after studying textures in the third image.

Busy busy busy
This image shows the reason why I haven't been posting that much lately,
I only had a small amount of time to do this image
so I thought it would be cool to show a cartoony illustration of
whats been happening in my live.

Line 06
Line Direction
Shading with directional lines helps
describe the contour and volume of an object.
On a larger compositional level, your choices often depend on the
feeling you want to create,
like suggesting atmosphere or action etc...
In the picture below
(No.1) this technique is called
shading along the axis or shading along.
I use this type of shading in my work the most
(No.2) Is called bracelet shading. The lines are
going around the axis.
This one gives the image a three-dimensional look
